Queen of the Acoustic Scene: Laura Smith

Queen of the Acoustic Scene

We first heard Nova Scotian Laura Smith on an album with The Chieftains called, Fire in the Kitchen. Great title, hey? Anyway, she was singing “My Bonny”. We include one of her versions here, though there is no video of her doing it, per se. There IS, also, a lovely song from the iconic Celtic Colours yearly event in Nova Scotia. She sings, “I Built a Boat” with the wonderful Tony McManus. She wrote the additional lyrics for “My Bonny”, as well as “I Built a Boat”. Incredible song writer, and best female acoustic singer we ever heard. Period. We wanted to share her music with you, and the good news is that we play her here frequently on the site. Sit back with us and enjoy!
