Tourism Ireland campaign with The Daily Telegraph showcases Dublin
An article in today’s Daily Telegraph is highlighting Dublin to British holidaymakers. The article is part of a Tourism Ireland campaign which has been running throughout 2017 – with a series of articles about the island of Ireland featuring in the Saturday travel section of The Daily Telegraph, which is read by 1.4 million people across Britain.
The article which appears today (Saturday, 14 October) is titled “How Dublin offers a feast for the senses”. It’s a personal reflection piece by author Neil Hegarty, who writes that the city “has so much to offer visitors looking for art, culture and good food”. It mentions the culinary delights to be found around Dublin and features wonderful photos of the Ha’penny Bridge and the Phoenix Park.
The campaign also includes a specially-created ‘Indulge in Ireland’ hub on The Telegraph website, with lots of different articles which are being promoted via online advertising.
Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain, said: “Our partnership with The Daily Telegraph is another excellent opportunity to spread the word about Dublin to millions of British travellers.
“Great Britain is a vital market for tourism to the island of Ireland. It delivers 47% of all overseas visitors and around 30% of all overseas tourism revenue. However, the decline in the value of sterling is certainly a challenge for Irish tourism from Britain right now, which means that competitiveness and the value for money message are more important than ever. Tourism Ireland is rolling out a really extensive programme of promotions this autumn – to keep the island of Ireland ‘front of mind’ with British travellers.”
