Bretagne Magazine is a popular publication and Tourism Ireland in Paris invited journalist and photographer Yvon Boelle to visit Northern Ireland last September. The resulting article appeared in a recent edition of the magazine, under the headline “Sur la route de Westeros” (meaning “On the road to Westeros”), and featured great images of places like the Dark Hedges, Ballintoy Harbour, Dunluce Castle, Mussenden Temple and Castle Ward. Elmagh Killeen, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Southern Europe, said: “We are delighted with the excellent coverage in Bretagne magazine, which is an excellent way of showcasing Northern Ireland and its associations with Game of Thrones to a large audience of potential holidaymakers in France.

Publicity is an important element of our overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the French media of the many things to see and do on a holiday in Northern Ireland.” Later this month, Tourism Ireland will unveil its latest campaign to highlight Northern Ireland – through the exciting events of Game of Thrones – on the global stage. The campaign will reach out to the show’s global fanbase, bringing Northern Ireland to the attention of Game of Thrones fans worldwide once again in a fun and innovative way. Elmagh Killeen continued: “Latest NISRA figures indicate that we welcomed an additional +14% visitors from Mainland Europe to Northern Ireland in the first nine months of 2015.

Tourism Ireland is determined to ensure that growth continues and we have an extensive programme of promotions under way in France throughout 2016. As well as highlighting Northern Ireland’s Game of Thrones connections, we are also promoting the Causeway Coastal Route and The Gobbins Cliff Path, as well as other iconic experiences such as Titanic Belfast, and the Giant’s Causeway.”
